Well, this is day three of 38 for my second stay at in-patient. My name is John and I’m an alcoholic. I have been a “hot and heavy” drinker for the past 26 years. It started off light and just to fit in after joining the US military straight out of High School. This actually my third time in treatment but the first time was a 12 month IOP (Intensive Outpatient).
I spent the past two days sick and tired, going through a detox from the initial withdrawals and I never really left my room. Now I’m feeling well enough to particapate in the five one hour long groups I have each day.
When I was last here I did make it though but started drinking after only about three weeks of getting out, so about 59 days sober – not even two months and the majority of that time without access to alcohol. Sad, really. So, here I am again.
I didn’t journal last time, so I am this time to really commit to the process and make my long-term sobriety the true priority.
